Bugs bugs bugs!

Image
Bugs Galore! I am determined to enjoy this beautiful Indian Summer weather we're having! This is what happens: It's early morning and as I venture into the peaceful morning my mind runs rampant with ideas for what to do outside today! After morning chores are done, Girls are at school and my orders for the day are ready for the post office, we head to the park for lunch with Daddy, (a great idea for a 80 degree October day). Alas, The kids start complaining as soon as we get there about little bugs that are biting them. I tell them to be tough and enjoy the beautiful weather. But no more than 30 minutes later, lunch is done and we can barely run to the car fast enough to escape the blood thirsty little bugs! We try playing outside ONE more time after lunch but we last barely 15 minutes! And so we settle for opening all the windows and enjoying the beautiful breeze from the indoors. BUT, I know it won't be long and we'll try venturing outside ...

Every Good Day Includes............

Image
A good day is the kind of day where you have everything all planned out. You are so ambitious, and going to be so productive! You are right on track to get more stuff accomplished than you've gotten done all week so far. AND THEN, it all changes with a little text message saying, "Let's go get pumpkins and paint them!" All my plans fly to to wind. Who's going to care if my house is in disarray, my windows are so full of finger prints it's hard to see the crisp blue Autumn sky. My sewing corner is hard to get to because of all the piles of fabric and tangled thread, And the GI Joe men are tangled up with legos and baby dolls.       But who cares?? There's fun to be had, and Memories to be made! And If you're anything like me you are not the one usually planning these impromptu days, But all you need is one little text message from a friend and you're all to ready to sweep the not-so-fun stuff under the rug! And so a Good day turns...

It's a Jungle out Here (in there)

Image
It's a Jungle, A jungle of amidst Mt. Laundry, The river of dirty dish water runs right through the middle of my day. The creatures are out of control, fighting over, no not food and nourishment, but playthings and rights. There are monkey vines of tangled thread. Foothills of fabric ranging from faux fur to satin. The master of the Jungle leaves early each morning with a kiss to his 'Second in command' confident that she can keep the jungle under control for another day! As the sun rises I step out onto the deck where all is at peace. God's world is so very organized. It soothes my sol as I drink in the quietness!  Yes I can manage this Jungle called FAMILY! I can keep the little creatures' attitudes in check, I can keep Mt laundry from erupting, I can exercise self control and not spend all my time in my sewing corner and cook something nutritious for my family at least a few times a week! I can Because With my God I can do all things! So ...

Staying Colorful

Image
My Family and I stood and appreciated a rainbow from our back deck the other night. As we talked about the many shades of color and God's never ending promise, I wanted to take those colors and put them somewhere, maybe in a jar or a Tupperware container so that on blue, and sad days I could open up that container and add some happy color! I think as we (here in the frigid Midwest anyway) face another winter, another season of short bleak days, long frigid nights, punctuated with bone-chilling winds, and blizzards, we already start thinking of ways to spend those days. for me it's scrap booking , doing preschool with 'Little Blue' sewing (of course), reading good books. Here are some things that can rob the color out of any day, (If I allow it too!!) When the kids wake up before me and super grumpy! Unexpected bills When I allow my house to get DIRTY Grocery shopping Can you relate to any of these?? :) Here are some things that bring The COLOR into my ...

Where'd it Go???

Image
Where'd it go?? Summer?? It's gone!! Each night as I close the windows so that the early morning air won't freeze our toes while we are at the breakfast table, I wonder, Did I enjoy every moment? Did we soak up all that Vit. D that we only dream about in the winter, Did we let the kids stay up late enough? Did we sleep in often enough? did we REALLY enjoy every drop of SUNSHINE??? Did we go swimming often enough? Did we have enough picnics? And sit around enough campfires? Did we enjoy each bite of 'fresh from the garden' veggies?? So this post about summer is a therapy post for me, What do I hope to gain from this therapy session? I hope to gain an understanding of how BUSY our summer really was! This realization will hopefully help me embrace the cooler days of Autumn, the, earlier bedtimes, the quieter days spent with only 'Little Blue' and 'Honeysuckle' while their sisters are at school. So here goes... a quick photo jou...
