Annual 'I Miss Summer' post and link up party


It's that time of year!!!  Yes time for my annual 'I miss summer' Blog.

 I always know I am coming down with a BAD case when early in February I stop reading blogs from Florida or any other warm place on earth! (can't take the Jealousy). 

 It usually happens gradually with things like:
 Buying an excessive amount of fresh food from the grocery store trying to re-create the taste of garden fresh veggies of summertime.
Trying to go for walks and bike rides on days when it looks sunny and warm outside but having to turn around and come back into the house because the wind is coming straight from the Arctic.

 And finally one day I succumb to the malady completely by looking through last summer's photos!!

Endless hours of fun in the sun!!!

    I miss the warmth. I'm always cold and our NY winters kill me! I also miss being able to send the kids outside to play. The day (and night) always seems to go so much better when the kids have had a chance to get out and run around :)

How to make your own Snicker Bars

Tis the time of year when Making homemade Candy actually sounds like fun. IF you don't think about it for too long and just DO it. When My sister called last week and said "lets make candy" I started salivating at the thought of my favorite Christmas candy and I said, "Yes, let's". Chocolate Carmel Candy or as my family calls it, Snicker Candy. Here you go: Layer 1: 1 cup milk Choc chips 1/4 cup butterscotch chips 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter Melt together until creamy and smooth, pour into bottom of 9x13 pan and chill until set. Layer 2: 1/4cup butter 1 cup white sugar 1/4 cup evaporated milk 1/4 cup marshmallow creme 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter 1&1/2 cup chopped salted peanuts 1 tsp vanilla Melt butter in heavy sauce pan over medium heat, add sugar and milk and bring to a boil. boil and stir for 5 minutes. Amish Hat Cookies

These are cookies from my childhood!!!   Mom always made them at Christmas time and this Christmas I planned on making some for my family! well it finally happened this week!! Made a double batch and they lasted 2 whole days!!!  Yes they are THAT good!!!! Soft chocolate cookie with marshmallow and chocolate frosting to top it all off!!!       Amish Hat cookies: 1 cup softened butter 1 1/2 cup white sugar 2 eggs 2 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp salt 3/4 tsp Baking Soda 2/3 cup baking cocoa 2 cups flour 25-30 large marshmallows halves   Cream butter, sugar and eggs,   add Vanilla Baking soda and salt and then flour   dip unto cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees until center of cookie spring back slightly when touched. remove cookies and add a marshmallow half to each cookie and return to oven for another minute.   cool cookies and then frost with your favorite chocolate frosting!!   Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
