Searching for Joy

As I look at the photos of the week and reflect on what happened and what DIDN'T happen, I am reminded about how fleeting these moments with my children really are. I had a hard time finding the Joy in serving my family this week. The laundry seemed ENDLESS, it seemed like every time I turned around there was another meal to cook or another fight to settle between the 'Big' girls. Hadassah is getting her 1yr molars and has a VERY short temper because of it. So she goes from one mess to another looking for her happiness. And all I wanted was a few moments, maybe an hour, of peace and quiet! Locking myself in the bathroom to take a shower kind of worked but I could still hear them banging on the door and yelling "MOM"! My friends and I had a girls night out on Friday and I was sooo HAPPY for a break, And guess what... That's all it took, A few hours, a meal that I didn't have to cook, good conversation with friends WITH NO INTERRUPTIONS, a few good laughs, and I felt good as new. No, children were not in bed when I got home, But that's perfectly ok because I had found my Joy in parenting in those few short hours and was happy to see them! I know The feelings of 'I need a break!!!' are so common to us moms and on the heels of those thoughts is guilt! But lets face it, we are human moms, Not 'SuperMoms'. The giver of the greatest Joy of all Loves me and is oh so happy to help me when I finally decide to lay my mothering burden at the foot of the cross and look to him for my Joy. The Joy that Jesus gives me is not the fleeting joy of an evening out with friends, but the Joy that fills me up and makes me want to burst forth in song.

Mitchell, working on his motor skills and alphabet. LOVE cuisenary rods!

Kristina and Staci sporting 'Crazy Hair' for school.

YES, we took advantage of another 20 degree day and went ice skating!!

Hadassah's new obsession is helping with the laundry. The minute she hears me start the washer, SHE IS THERE!!

THIS is where I found out all the details of elementary school drama, (Hadassah is learning way to much), yes, at the kitchen sink is a great place to ask questions about certain boys, the tempo of the actual dish washing is how I tell how they REALLY feel about the certain someone.

It really was this kind of week, I don't think I finished 1 project without at least 8 interruptions.

Mitchell, climbing the drying rack, he calls it his ladder, and pretends he is a fireman, saving people!

A 3$ Goodwill toy provided hours of entertainment! the batteries were more expensive than the actual game and they already need a new set of batteries. :) oh the price of 'fun'.

And now for some creations from the sewing corner of our home.....

Baby boy corduroy boots lined with fleece.

Chocolate and cream fleece soft sole shoes!

Camo pillowcase dress for the little hunting princess.

Camo and pink!!
So long, Thanks for reading. see you all next weekend!!!

Now for the best part of the whole week..................................

My friend Ria and her sister-in-law Steph were in charge of this wonderful mini-conference called {em-pou-er}. It was the most life changing seminar/conference I have ever been to!
The Speaker, Grace Johnson is a wonderful woman letting God speak through her straight into the hearts of women like you and me!

The day was based on Jeremiah 18:2-4

1The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

2Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.

3Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.

4And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
As Grace sat on stage turning a hard, ugly lump of clay into a Beautiful and much loved piece of art, she spoke wonderful words of the Lord into weary and hopeless hearts.

Here are a few of the wonderful things I heard on Saturday that I will treasure forever.
1. the clay cannot form it's self into a beautiful piece of art. only under the potters loving hands is the clay made into something beautiful.
2. The lips of the vessel are never formed before the heart is done. (the heart of the vessel is the inside that carries the water).
3. Each piece of art is different and MUCH LOVED by the potter. (I am much loved by my master Potter)
4. The Potters hands are used to lovingly shape and mold the vessel, However he allows the tools to be used also to help bring out an even deeper beauty and prefect ion. (The tools are the things in life that hurt me or are unpleasant)
5. To finish the piece and turn it into a vessel that the master can use it has to go through the fire twice, chemicals, and spend a time sitting on the shelf curing, BUT THE POTTER NEVER ONCE FORGETS ABOUT HIS CREATION.
There is much, much more, but I have neither the room nor the time to write it all! You will have to find a Grace Johnson seminar yourself and let the words of the Lord soothe your weary sole!! Great news!!!! she is coming to Gospel Lighthouse Church in Floyd IA!!! we would love to have you come! Detail are still being worked out but I will be updating you!!

Meet a few of the wonderful Bloggers that we met at the conference. Steph Ria Rachel Beka

Of course we had to bring a piece of handmade pottery home. Nothing is better than tea from this special mug!

My beautiful friend Rachel and I enjoying 'Girl time'.
See you all next week!!!

First days of 2011

2011, A new beginning, fresh start. Can't help but wonder what God has in store for my family this year. One thing I do know is that with God I get a fresh start every morning. What a wonderful God I serve!! :) Here are a few of my goals for 2011:
Draw closer to God, Spend more time in prayer, worship, and reading his Word.
to keep up with my many pictures by scrap booking more consistently, My goal is to devote every Sunday afternoon to scrap booking.. :) I know this will probably only last until the weather gets warm and Sunday afternoons are spent outdoors!!! that's when the pictures really start piling up. 1. because there are so many photo opportunities and so little scrap booking time. :)

So far here are a few snapshots of our first week of 2011. If I keep up this rate of picture taking.... wow, I don't know if a year holds enough of Sunday afternoons to scrapbook them all. :)

Sunday, Jan. 2nd, Hadassah Grace was dedicated to the Lord while surrounded by her Family and friends.
After the dedication we had her Birthday party. She made short work of her Cake.. :)

The birthday girl in her tutu!!

AHHHH!! Ice skating, nothing beats that for a winter afternoon. When the forecast says that temps will be warming up into the 20's or 30's we happily make plans to go to the rink. The best part?? this rink is right next to the local Coffee Shoppe!!!!

Miss HaddyGrace sporting one of her new Birthday outfits.

The 3 'Big kids' grabbing the last few minutes of daylight, 'sliding' on our driveway which was a sheet of ice!

And we had to get a picture of the curls. My other babies had this much or more hair at birth. So we are happy to see these curls!! :)

We had a 'Play Date' with Ayden Ray. The Basket ball was a big hit.

We spend a night at the BEST motel in town, Swimming pool and all!! ( It was a Christmas gift from very dear friends) The Kids had a wonderful time and I LOVED our king size bed!!! Our next mattress will Definitely be a king size!!!
So now I am off to scrapbook these moments. :) see you next week! :)
